Let's do a thread on Heidi using CBD/THC to manage her #hEDS. Setting: I live in Iowa/US, where cannabis for chronic pain just became a thing. My pain levels vary from annoying to debilitating. NSAIDs/opiates for 10 years with mild effect, now trying this.
#EhlersDanlosSyndrome
So first off, let's just make it clear this treatment is for people with money. It cost me $100 to ask for permission to do this, and then $190 for a month (ish) supply of drugs on the conservative side of dosing. Cash only, no insurance, no nothing.
I got a cream which is 2:1 CBD to THC. The gods themselves made this cream. Today was a fairly good pain day, cruising at my usual 5/10 pain, but I'd already taken Vicodin bc of my neck. Car/appointment made it flare. I used the cream in the car, half the "pea sized" dose.
Instantly, pain gone. Creepily so. Like a magic eraser. Coming back now a bit, but milder and manageable. Biggest issue is I fix one area, another pops up. (That's normal.) The cream is $80 for a ridiculously tiny jar. I would sell plasma for it, do unspeakable things for it.
I also got a tincture of the 1:1 CBD/THC because with EDS who knows what your real dose is. I used half the recommended dose. I felt well enough to do this thread. If I took the full dose, I feel like I could write books. It's not like "all pain gone," but head is clearer.
Also I was having vague anxiety in general that I have gotten good at managing, but now it's evaporated. Or rather, it's over there, not bothering me. Anxiety is not a covered treatment in Iowa.
I feel a tiny little high, but nothing serious. I could use a little magic cream in my mid upper back because of this typing. But that's about it. Seems like a decent start.
Here's the thing, though: since we're in #DisabilityPrideMonth or whatever: the disability tax is REAL. I spend thousands of dollars a year just to try to function. Now I guess I add a few more on. I am incredibly fortunate to HAVE thousands of dollars to try things.
Now remember that I could grow this stuff in my back yard for free.
