Let’s talk about Diastasis Recti (DR) - separation of the rectus abdominis (Abs) muscles, common in pregnant women, but it can also happen to men (due to obesity & other reasons) and whether you’re pregnant or not ladies. #thrivefitnesske

How should you go about this ? 🤔🤔
Men, you can also get DR. It’s not only exclusive to women.

I had to watch this video so you have to as well !!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

As you can see he’s separating his rectus abdominis (6 pack) so he has DR. #thrivefitnesske
✨ So first thing’s first, if you developed DR during your pregnancy and you have just given birth (2-3 months ago)

🚫 PLEASE DO NOT DO ANY CORE WORKOUTS ESPECIALLY CRUNCHES. 🚫

Don’t do any strenuous exercises as well. You will worsen the situation. #thrivefitnesske
🚫 Exercises to avoid while suffering from DR 🚫

- crunches
- sit-ups
- pushups
- press-ups
- planks

Those moves make abdominal separation worse. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

What you can do instead is going for light walks. #thrivefitnesske
You will need clearance from your doctor before you get into an exercise routine. Including working out at home.

Working one on one with a certified personal trainer will also help you rectify the imbalances, while keeping you SAFE. Okay ? 🤗 #thrivefitnesske
✨ Don't strain your core muscles !

Constipation and lifting heavy things, including your kids, strain that connective tissue. Standing up and sitting down also count as heavy lifting because you’re lifting your body weight.
As time goes by and the tissue heals, Pilates or other bodyweight strength exercises may help you strengthen and rely more on your transverse abdominis (deep core) belly muscles instead of the outer ones.

Focus on strength training to regain your functionality. BE SAFE ALWAYS.
If you are a pregnant mama, training to strengthen your core muscles can go a long way in avoiding DR from happening.

if you’re planning to get pregnant also work on strengthening your core, which will also save you low back pain & issues. #thrivefitnesske

A strong core >>>>
Same thing applies to men suffering from DR, avoid those movements & get to work one on one with a certified personal trainer, don’t freestyle it trying to fix it because it could lead to more severe complications like hernia.

You will save yourself a lot of suffering.
Lastly, be patient & trust the process.

You will heal eventually and get back to your usual self. Just take it one day at a time 😊 working with professionals also makes it so much easier.

Remember a strong core >>> an aesthetically pleasing core ANY DAY. #thrivefitnesske
