Distractions and multitasking are the biggest, most controllable ways to waste your time

You lose time
- by doing something unimportant
- the loading time to switch between tasks

You lose double time away from your goals

Your burn your energy context-switching rather than progressing
Focus is a muscle

Focus concentrates your energy to get more done in a shorter amount of time

Focus is a trainable skill that you can build

Once you build the ability to focus each of your tasks becomes exponentially better
Your commitment builds your focus

If there is a consequence for getting your work done, you will be more than likely to do it

Build commitment by
- make it have a reward
- connect it to your values
- writing down your specific goal
- remove your ability to do something else
Write away your distractions

Create a distraction sheet

- Have a sheet of paper next to you
- Write down your distractions
- Get back to work

Writing them down contains the thoughts and allows you to organize your thoughts for later
A clear space brings a clear mind

Here’s a crazy thought
- You don’t always have to your phone within arm’s reach

Only have necessary tools available for the task at hand

Each additional object is a focus killer
Build your focus muscles with mindfulness

The simple act of paying attention to your breath increases your ability to focus

When you practice mindfulness overtime, science says you
- increase focus
- reduce mental distractions
- increase overall health and wellbeing
