So over on FB a particularly thick-headed comedian acquaintance who favors himself above politics was going off about how Rachel Maddow and Tucker Carlson are just two sides of the same coin.
Predictably, this didn& #39;t sit well with me because it& #39;s just so fucking stupid. 1/

The two are not comparable, at all. Maddow has an admittedly progressive bent to her politics and views, but her show is reality-based and well-researched. She admits error when mistakes are made. She isn& #39;t perfect but she genuinely tries to hold bad actors to account. 2/
Tucker is the diametric opposite of Maddow, and not just in his placement on the political spectrum. He& #39;s not merely right-leaning like say, Chris Wallace. He& #39;s a dedicated white-supremacist, fascist, and propagandist. He lies as easily as the rest of us breathe. 3/
Democrats hate Tucker because he lies about them.
Republicans hate Maddow because she tells the truth about them.
One side is morally justified in their feelings, the other is not. 4/

The fact is there is not a progressive mainstream media equivalent of Tucker, Fox News, Newsmax, or ONA, and never has been. Falsely, cynically equating Maddow, MSNBC, and CNN with Tucker, Fox News, and Newsmax isn& #39;t some galaxy brain level insight. 5/
What it does instead is normalize and excuse the far-right disinformation and propaganda poisoning our democracy and helps to drag the Overton Window on what constitutes acceptable public discourse ever further into fascism.
