I& #39;ve literally never owned a binder, just saying, and never will
i say this from a position of thin privilege in terms of being able of disguise shape
but like, even when I can& #39;t disguise my body with layers I literally would not be able to wear a binder with my asthma

idk it& #39;s like...
as options for transition become more accessible for trans people, for trans men and trans women, for nonbinary people, for other trans people of any gender, there becomes more expectation of certain tools or processes
as options for transition become more accessible for trans people, for trans men and trans women, for nonbinary people, for other trans people of any gender, there becomes more expectation of certain tools or processes
but the problem with this is that like, not every transition option is safe or accessible for everyone
even assuming you& #39;re in a safe environment to transition, where your safety or ability to work is not threatened by your gender, not everyone CAN do every aspect
even assuming you& #39;re in a safe environment to transition, where your safety or ability to work is not threatened by your gender, not everyone CAN do every aspect
lots of people have make-up allergies and CAN& #39;T learn to contour; asthma and other chest ailments, not to mention circulatory problems, can put binders off limits; many kinds of HRT are too dangerous to some people& #39;s health to take bc their bodies won& #39;t digest and respond right
it& #39;s not because HRT or binders or make-up or something else entirely - different surgeries, different medications, etc - are inherently unsafe, but because disability exists, chronic illness and allergies exist, not every body responds the same to the same things
and this isn& #39;t even taking into account personal choice and that for whatever reason someone might not even WANT a specific transition aid
but bc of the idea that all this stuff is perfectly accessible for everybody, and has the same effect
but bc of the idea that all this stuff is perfectly accessible for everybody, and has the same effect
there& #39;s this victim blaming narrative where if we as trans people are misgendered or abused, or if we don& #39;t "pass", we& #39;re blamed bc we didn& #39;t use the right transition aids when they& #39;re ~so accessible~ now
some Liberals effectively fantasise about a world where transition is Perfect bc they don& #39;t want trans people to be visible at all
they just want trans people to be able to appear cis as much as possible and perfectly assimilate
they just want trans people to be able to appear cis as much as possible and perfectly assimilate
but ultimately transition is personal and individual and these things vary. extremely widely from person to person and when you give people nasty looks or get judgy when they don& #39;t do something you think is Normal for trans ppl like them like
you& #39;re a prick
you& #39;re a prick
