I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the CDC's guidance on this is confusing and awful. To a lot of people, the message will be, "The vaccine only gains you two extremely limited situations where you don't need a mask, so why bother?" https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/04/cdc-outdoor-mask-pandemic/618739/
"When can I go see a movie or go to a restaurant without a mask? Once the USA reaches herd immunity? When will that happen? What's the danger level for a vaccinated person in a movie theater or restaurant? Or a non-crowded shopping mall?"
"Just wear a mask all the time just to be safe" is like a Christian schools teaching kids, "The only safe sex is abstinence, so there's no reason to talk about it any further." Since most humans won't abide by the strict rule, you're just leaving them to figure it out themselves.
There is nothing whatsoever wrong with admitting that most people hate masks, just as there's nothing wrong with admitting that most men hate condoms. Insulting or belittling them for hating the thing only makes it seem like you're out of touch and thus not worth listening to.
