Imagine a line on a chalkboard. At one end it says "hey, sometimes you mix up your gun and your taser in the heat of the moment" and on the other end it says "why didn't they just shoot the knife out of her hand?"

I'm criticizing the online discourse surrounding these incidents, not the conduct in either (or both) incidents. It's just hard to have a discussion when you see points like this being made.
