🏋🏾‍♂️ nibras lifts progressively heavier weights. a tracking thread:
currently doing stronglifts 5x5. this is the first time i've focused on going heavier each week and maximizing strength. it's a lot of fun

weights atm, not including bar:
deadlift - 40kg
benchpress - 17kg
overhead press - 16kg
barbell row - 27.5kg
hip thrust - 30kg
squat - 30kg
aside from stronglifts i'm trying to swing kettlebells, do push-ups, hangs and pull-up bar negatives daily.

i skip out on days depending on how my muscles feel that day. incredibly sore and fatigued = take a break
Will use the thread to log workouts & thoughts on lifting & exercise in general.

i've shied from using twitter to track anything physical health-related because i always thought: why? But atm thinking about movement takes up a good chunk of my brain space. so here we are
background: i followed the Strong Curves programme(s) for the last 1.5-2yrs (don't let the subtitle put you off, it's a great intro to weightlifting).

after 2 yrs the movements & rep range became boring. Most SC sets are in the 8-12 reps range with moderate weights
before lockdown, i could feel myself starting to dread the higher reps & repetitiveness of the workouts. my workouts had also become long and complicated. lockdown came along and gym routine went ✌🏾

now, i'm amazed at how energizing and fun it is to go heavier for fewer reps
as always there's a case to be made for listening to your body. if more reps are agonizing and boring but fewer, harder reps is exciting, that's a clear sign to shift focus.

so much of working out's been learning to trust my body and listen to what it enjoys and wants more of
