1\\6 You may or may not realise, but as people from visibly marginalised communities, we as human beings don’t get to ‘opt out’ of talking about race, in one way or another. We don’t get to feel hesitant with it or pretend it doesn’t exist.
2\\6 We don’t get to move through the world without experiencing harm in one form or another. To be a person of colour, is to not get a choice about whether or not you want to learn about why the world sees you differently.
3\\6 It starts when we are young, the children not being allowed to play with you, the stares - the reason your parents end up telling you that - nothing is wrong with you, that you will always be viewed as ‘different’, that you will have to work twice as hard to prove yourself.
4\\6 These are the words that get handed down from our parents who have experienced racism, and they advise us the best way they know how, to protect us.

We don’t get a choice about if we want to engage with the conversation around race.
5\\6 It is 2020. It’s time that those who move through the world with power and white privilege get comfortable talking about racism and use their power in allyship by making way for POC,
6\\6 by listening to us, by recognising we are BRILLIANT, by hiring us, by creating equitable workplaces & by publicly supporting us.

We all need to be engaged to make change happen. #charitysowhite #equity
