1/n Wandsworth LTN results:
> LTNs *did* reduce motorised traffic in trial areas;
> removing LTNs resulted in traffic returning at over 300 vehicles/hour;
> but even with high traffic, residents don't want LTNs.
#HighTrafficNeighbourhoods
Eg below, repeated across all trial areas
3/n #A24 #CS7 cycle lane:
> #TfL had "extensive dialogue" with Wands BC before installing wands - contrary to claims by local Tory councillors that the scheme was imposed without consultation;
> Tweaks continue, but bus journey times are broadly similar to before.
4/n #A24 #CS7 cycle lane:
> "the number of people cycling has increased"
5/n Wandsworth pedestrianised street trials:
> Streets closed to aid shopping and alfresco dining
> Hugely popular - trade was up 30% YoY!
> Note para 19 about "traditional concerns" about loss of parking - businesses and residents now asking for schemes to be extended
6/6 Final thought (for now): if you think ANPR cameras are the easy answer for LTNs and school streets, remember that (London's) drivers routinely ignore traffic signs if they think they can get away with it

"150,000 video clips to review from 4 locations in 3 weeks"
7/ Wands BC's transport paper (up top 👆) unpacks responses to the #LowTrafficNeighbourhood consultations, saying that most residents are against them.

The consultations were planned to run *until February 2021 and are still live*

8/ ... so are the #LTN consultation "results" really a measure of what local residents want?
Or just a reflection of how local antis were quick to respond, whilst the (silent) majority assumed they had six months to provide Wands BC with feedback?
