Disc Room might seem like a difficult game on the surface, but @kittycalis @terrivellmann @doseonetweets & I put in a lot of thought to make it more accessible. A thread:
The game mostly requires one stick and one button to play. Both keyboard and gamepad controls are fully customizable, deadzones are adjustable too.
Screenshake, camera movement, and the color of the dark rooms are all adjustable. Comics have no text and can be read in either direction. Not everyone likes gore, so that's fully customizable too. You can change the color, turn it off, or have confetti blood.
Note that confetti blood is also accurately reflected in the comics and writing. Very important!
Now as far as difficulty settings go, we radically leave that up to the player. All of these are reversible and can be changed at any point. Game speed can be anything from 20-200%, as well as more gradual disc and hazard speed sliders suggested by @djf1107.
Zones and the comics can also be locked/unlocked at any point from the menu. Spawn indicators can be turned on to help with the more reflex-based rooms.
Don't get us wrong, Disc Room has some of the hardest challenges in recent videogame history. I don't think we've seen anyone try tackle these completely optional twists yet.
The thing is, accessibility helps everyone. Even the most hardcore of players can use these settings to quickly unlock a room they want to practice, to observe disc behavior, or to figure out new speedrun strategies. Disc Room caters to a wide group of players.
In the end, we just want everyone to be able to take a disc to the face at their own pace!
