Want to know how the COVID restrictions limit restaurants? Here's what it's done to @CopperInk :

Social distancing has taken us to (max) 80% capacity. In reality, we're operating closer to 75%

The 10pm curfew eradicated a 2nd sitting at night taking us to 55% capacity
Tier 2 limits on multiple households mixing would mean less tables of 3+, taking us to closer to 40% capacity

On top of all this, the curfew means limited time and thus lower spend on extra drinks, cheeseboard, etc

Plus, overheads are increased in sanitiser, masks, etc
And above all, the restaurant experience, luxury element, service, etc, has been eradicated

And the stress operators are working under is incredible, plus the risk to health from infection

There's the threat of a £10k fine but we can't control our guest's actions
If we're forced to lockdown (again) without notice, we stand to lose all prepped or fresh stock, potentially worth thousands of pounds

Staffing is tough with team members having to isolate or quarantine for weeks at a time
Despite all this, the industry has proved it wants to support the COVID fight and protect its guests and staff

We have provided safe environments to eat and drink

We will continue to support the efforts but need help too. Rent and bills continue to come in
This also affects our network of suppliers; butchers, fishmongers, laundry providers, wine merchants, cleaners, tech support and more

So please support your local restaurants and be nice to the people who serve you. They are under immense pressure
And finally, please act responsibly when you're not in our premises. Actions such as those in Liverpool recently or in London after 10pm kickout times are a mockery to all of us trying to stay open and stay safe.
