Dining in as a strategy. Still...... Unfuckingbelievable.
I've been railing against this during this entire pandemic and people who truly believe a small percentage in or feel like they're doing enough really aren't and it's just performative.
At this point, if that's your only choice then you're truly playing with the health and safety of your employees and guests and that is truly unconscionable.
The short-term gains and staying afloat mentality is what's kept this shit going for so long. Believing in some sort of government assistance or help is also a fucking joke.
This pandemic has changed my mindset permanently and the brainwashing of "we're all in this together" is a weak ass approach to just getting people to be ok with things. I'm not ok with things and I'm not depending on anyway to show me shit or help.
Staying awake and being creative in all of this is truly ridiculous but it's the only way other than seeing what everyone else is doing because all that is is going backwards. How the fuck is anyone ok with dining in? It only serves people that are truly blind to reality.
Local, state, and federal government have never understood how restaurants work. There are a lot of people in this industry that don't even understand. The generalization of how all restaurants need the same things is also bullshit.
Fucking Tom Douglas in the NY Times talking about how hard things are and people still fall for his antics? Ethan too? Rich chefs can go fuck themselves and they brought all of it on themselves with their greed. No sympathy from me, zero.
Can't make 15 restaurants work? Boo fucking hoooooo. You'll be fine and somehow the point of shitting on your employees is skipped over, like always. At what point do people get past the image of a chef as being the only person to suffer through all of this?
What's the future look like? Mother fucker, we aren't even close to getting out of this shit now.
Trump is soft dick talking about stimulus and whatnot just to push that conversation to make the democrats look dumb. Hey, cool, the American people are just here to be in fights between mom and dad, cool.
Whatever happens in this election cycle we are still months away from any sort of help, if any. My strategy? Still doesn't involve dining in or looking around to see what else they're doing. I don't want my guests or employees to get sick and die, it's that simple.
Think I'm controversial? Ok, cool. I'd be more concerned with the people trying to put asses in seats without regard to the health and safety of those around us.
Restaurants feel like they have undo stress in monitoring or caring about the health of their guests/employees? NO FUCKING SHIT, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
There are signs in bathrooms, required by the state, that tell women they shouldn't smoke or drink while pregnant that's just normal but say something about a mask or not being cool with having people in your restaurant and that's extreme/crazy.
Have fun in 7-15 years when we really find out the long-term effects from Covid and those employees/guests come back with class action lawsuits like those mesothelioma commercials that run non-stop.
If this reads like some gloom and doom type of thing then I honestly don't give a shit.
I've had to an extreme side of this because there are so many factors, in science, that points to that's what we should be doing but please tell me about how being hindered from opening at full capacity is what needs to be done to save everything.
I am so incredibly angry all the time and depressed. Why? Because this is truly a choose your own adventure game and too many of the dumbest fucking people are opening their mouths and minds and being rewarded for doing the absolute least.
I'll be over here if anyone needs me.
