#neisvoid #chronicillness Today I feel like having chronic illness/pain/fatigue is like being banished to an island, and my friends from the mainland cannot come visit me on my island, but I can go visit them. But when I try to tell them what it is like to live on my island,
they say things like, “I wish I could live on an island,” “must be nice to live on an island,” “oh well, you’re strong enough to live on an island,” “look on the bright side, at least you’re not in the water with a shark,” or “maybe you just need to think about the island
differently.” I can also leave to visit doctors, but they seem to not believe in my island, or they do but can’t locate it, or they fixate on the palm tree. So I spend less and less time on the mainland and more time on the island, tweeting to other islands.
