In lieu of discussing family mess, here’s a prompt that really fascinates me: if you have synesthesia, how does it manifest for you and also when did you learn most other people aren’t synesthetes?
(This is really cheering me up and you are all extremely cool and I love all the variations and had NO idea misophonia is a form of synesthesia. I think I have asked 3 parents in the column to have their kid evaluated for misophonia and 4 parents to get THEMSELVES checked.)
Twitter cut off my ability to “like” things for the day but please know I wanted to heart all your cool brain weirdness.
Also, I think misophonia is a great example of progress in understanding the complexities of our brain. People for millennia had to sit there wanting to strangle people eating and just assumed they were assholes for having the urge. Now we have noise-cancelling headphones.
