When we had our first baby, the pediatrician examined her and said “so which of you gave her the overbite?”, glanced up briefly, said “oh, BOTH of you,” and went back to the exam.

I had been so excited to get a spot on her roster bc she was the legendary head of pediatrics AND Canadian. So, post-overbite comment I said “where...in Canada?” and she said “Montreal” and I was like “oh okay.”

Same Montrealer, different day: “what vegetables does the baby like?”

Me (proudly): “peas, carrots, corn”

Montrealer: “I’ll write down ‘the starchy ones,’ then.”

She was basically a female Dr. Cox from Scrubs and you can get an instant callback any time and she’s devoted to the kids. I like my care providers al dente.

Any time there’s usually a colossal wait to see a specialist or get a test she says “I’ll have a chat with them, clear your afternoon tomorrow” and God only knows what she says to those poor unfortunate schedulers.
