When I was in high school (senior me) one statement really stuck with me:

Steer clear from conventional wisdom.

Here is the importance of one statement, how it changed my life and how it can apply to your life.

👇
In grade 10 (sophomore) business class,

We studied the life of a billionaire, Rob McEwen.

We learned everything about his life, how he made his fortunes,

And tips that he gives to young entrepreneurs.
“Steer clear from conventional wisdom.”

When you’re a 10th grader, that doesn’t mean anything to you.

What does it even mean??

Simply put, don’t do things the same way as everyone else.

Find another angle to look at a problem.
People always mention,

If your back hurts, DONT DEADLIFT!

If your body is aching, TAKE MEDICINE!

Supplement with this, and that!

Don’t take risks, you’ll hurt yourself!
But why wouldn’t you follow conventional wisdom?

If it works, it works!

Is that truly how you want to pursue life?

You can always find a solution to a problem, but was it truly the best answer?

That is how you steer clear from conventional wisdom.
The more difficult a problem, the less solutions.

Why?

Because special people don’t follow conventional wisdom.

They take a path that not many people follow.

Do you see Elon Musk stop pursuing space travel,

Or LeBron James stop pursuing greatness?
No!

But conventional wisdom wouldn’t have gotten them to the point they’re at.

If they followed what ordinary people told them to do,

They would be ordinary.

This one sentence has changed the way I look at life.
Would people normally tackle this?

Do I want to challenge myself to be greater?

These are all difficult questions that have far more difficult solutions.

But that’s how you strive for greatness.

Life isn’t about living in your comfort zones.
The people who seem to make the most out of life are usually successful.

Does wealth = success?

No, but taking a journey that very few have makes life exciting.

You attempt things that not many people have.
Don’t be discouraged when others tell you “it’s too risky!”

Try it, because you succeed by doing something abnormal.

If you want to run a marathon, go for it.

If you want to be strong, go for it.

Build the courage, so you can:

Steer clear from conventional wisdom.
