What happens once you’ve topped out your max speed? Eventually max speed will plateau, then what? Tirelessly going at it won’t continue to raise the ceiling. If we are obsessed with minimal effective dose & diminishing returns, we should be addressing this elephant in the room.
We no longer get X benefit for Y input. So is it time to explore Z? At what point is it okay to pursue other qualities with the same tenacity as we pursue max speed?
To be clear, max speed is a massive contributor to high levels of performance. But as with everything in the performance world, it is not infinite. We won’t be strong enough to lift a building, we won’t be able to hold a sprint forever, we also won’t approach the speed of light.
