Never, ever be ashamed of your best effort.

If you keep at it you can come a long way.

In 2013 I had come fresh off a bowel sugery. For 10 years Crohn's disease had ravaged my body. I saw this as my last chance at a happier, healthier life. After several months of recovery...
I hit the ground running.

Being fat wasn't even my big concern! I was a bit in denial about it in fact. I was fat, though.

How fat?

235lb, at 5'8". I had a moonface.

In addition I had two other serious problems, low energy and physically I was very weak. Pathetically so.
How weak?

I struggled to move 90lb bowflex dumbbells from a dolly into my car. I could barely lift it with my entire body. I honestly thought I would never need the maximum setting on the pair of them...for any lift!
I started lifting in the later part of that year, but I bought a generic program and had limited equipment, no coaching and no stacked habits. Still, I liked it and I hungered for more. I'd lost 15lb by the sweat of my brow alone.
I discovered 5x5 in early 2014 and within 5 months got much stronger. I took courses, read books, articles and by year end I had all but quit drinking alcohol. I was getting decent protein.
In 2015 I had twin girls to care for. This was the brightest and darkest of times. Weight training saved my sanity and I came down to a "trim" 198lb. 37lb in less than 2 years, no real plan to address food intake.
Slowly I stacked more habits:

Ate better, managed caloric intake and more.

Today, 6.5 years after that weak, fat depressed man came out of that surgery, I'm stronger than I thought I'd ever be. I did it in far less than ideal conditions. You can too.

I'm still improving...
And that 90lb dumbbell spends a lot of time on that setting I never thought I'd even use.
I am looking for some more clients for the fall. I'm patient and client-focused.

I will troubleshoot and I will not talk down to you. I know the power of slow, sustainable progress.
