In sept 2016 when i Lost It, I was initially locked against my will in a suicide ward for a week & I was released while the 1st debate was going on. So half I watched isolated in a psych ward & half i watched on my phone in an uber looking at twitter for the first time in a week https://twitter.com/ZekeJMiller/status/1299197862039949313
It was funny because the comments in the psych ward weren’t that different from the tweets. ZING
Then I was free for a few days while i waited for a bed to open up at the mental institution Wynona Ryder goes to in “Girl, Interrupted,” which i left the friday before the election. So all the drama of the final stretch (Access Hollywood/Comey) I experienced from a loony bin lol
When I was a kid I used to have all these fears about talking about my personal life and family and mind and when i went to college i promised myself just to never worry about it anymore, and it’s worked well for me. So that’s how you end up with tweets like this lol
i mean when i made that promise i didn’t anticipate social media and that i would years later be applying this idiot philospahy to shit i would broadcast to thousands of strangers but the future creeps up on you and you don’t even realize!
anyway if youd like to read more about my 2016 suicide attempt and the nervous breakdown that accompanied it please email book publishers and beg them to give me a nice advance. (or you can read this one thing i posted on fb and call it a night)
Anyway another angle here is that you should support Mother Jones for this. Because they did not fire me for the behavior that had happened in the previous weeks which had been increasingly unhinged and embarrassing and also stood by me and were supportive about me coming back!
In general Mother Jones can be way more left than I am personally, but no one has experienced the first hand kindness and good faith of the people that work here more than me. And I’ll always be fiercely appreciative and defensive about everyone here bc of it.
