With the snowball method, you do the smallest things first
PROS
- gets a lot of things checked off quickly
- builds your confidence and your momentum
CONS
- can get sidetracked playing whack-a-mole with low-value tasks
- may never get to the big things

With the avalanche method, you do the biggest things first
PROS
- get the most important things done first
- things get easier as you go
CONS
- may lose confidence if you don't make progress
- may get stuck on big things and never get to little things

I personally prefer using the avalanche method
I like to get my biggest tasks done first
That way they're not hanging over me for a long time
That's what works best for me - try both and see which fits you best!
