Here’s a thread on all the wonderful #FirstAuthors I was lucky enough to work with since starting my #SeniorAuthor journey.
Science in isolation is impossible. My most intersting projects were always collaborative. So for starters: #ThankYou to my fantastic #FirstAuthors

@muneerhasham, collaborator and now friend from across the big pond @jacksonlab, was first author on my first senior auhtor paper. Kind, generous and funny, you couldn’t wish for a better collaborator!
Muneer helped me finish a cool project which I would have been forced to drop otherwise (resource issues…). We established a #mousemodel of #heartdisease in systemic #inflammation/ #autoimmunity.

Next up; @SpacedTimer! Another collaborator turned friend
. Nicoleta is one of the coolest #WomenInSTEM I know! She is a #physicist and if that wasn’t cool enough, she does preclinical MR imaging. So yes; #MRI scans of tenny weeny mouse brains and hearts!

Nicoleta established a fancy (but simple) MRI protocol to detect hemorrhagic #myocarditis in mice.

@DMM_Journal do these first person interviews, which are fantastic. Check out Nicoleta! https://dmm.biologists.org/content/12/8/dmm041681
Here come @MonaPanini, a truly special case! Mona joined me for her BSc project @imperialcollege. She has since published 2 #firstauthor papers and an @escardio conference abstract and contributed to another preprint on @biorxivpreprint. Watch out for this #WomenInMedicine!
The first of Mona's papers was a #systematicreview/ #metaanalysis on #immunomodulatory trials in #heartfailure. It was a massive piece of work and got quite a bit of attention: https://academic.oup.com/cardiovascres/article/114/11/1445/5054000
The other one was a neat little review on how current post-MI and #heartfailure #medication already has quite substantial #immunomodulatory effects.
I think it hasn’t quite gotten the attention it deserves, so check it out! https://www.mdpi.com/2077-0383/7/11/403

And Amalia (not on here). She is #FirstAuthor on our latest on anti-heart autoantibodies in heart failure. She’s worked hard to finally get this out! It’s been quite the #peerreview journey, but you might have seen a post or two about this one before ;) https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fcell.2020.00695/full
#ThankYou. I will be expanding this list soon!
This makes me think that I should also give a shout out to my other fantastic collaborators and some of the #SeniorAuthors on my own first author papers. I will, but another time!

Adding another wounderful #FirstAuthor: @ElviraForte1. She's personified true excellence in all she does. She's also a fighter, with a passion for science that has made her stay on through adversity.
