Given the relief that people felt when reading about the link between procastination and mental health, I want to add some symptoms that may appear normal but could stem from mental health related issues:
- Lack of sleep or too much sleep.
- Lack of appetite or too much
- Constantly feeling on edge or irritated.
- Memory loss.
- Reduced attention span.
- Reduced concentration
- Constant pains and aches
- Hyperventilation (shortness of breath).
- Loss of motivation or interest even in things we used to love.
- Reduced libido or sexual interest.
- Increased libido (a little rarer).
- Withdrawal from family and friends.
- Productivity.
- Increased crying or emotional numbness.
- Slowing or increase in speed in our environment (we feel as though the world is going much slower or much faster).
- Nausea, constipation, diarrhea (there is a very strong link between our mental health and digestive issues.
- IBS
- Increased alcohol, cigarettes, drug intake.
- Difficulty in establishing a routine.
- Loneliness
These are some symptoms that we may consider normal but if they continue, could mean that there is an underlying mental health issue happening. There are many more. But this is just to shed light on the fact that mental health doesn’t always come in the classical symptoms we
are used to hearing about. Hope that helps a little 😊
