Have you found yourself thinking “I don’t want to take any vacation until I can go somewhere” in these past weeks?
It can be cognitive dissonance to think about taking time off if you are sticking around home – and that time looks a lot like the past several months. 1/
When you picture it, you may feel like it isn’t a break. You do need a rest. A break from technology, being on and fighting the blur between work and home.

You need time completely and freely dedicated to how you want to use it. 2/
Have you been feeling tired, even if you slept? Have you had a harder time doing things? Do you find you are not doing things with the enthusiasm you did before?

All of that is normal. And a symptom of the adrenal fatigue from the past several months. 3/
When our bodies are on constant alert, we have increased cortisol.

This impacts our energy, our thoughts and even our ability to sleep. Our bodies literally get fatigued trying to process the extra stress chemical and need a chance to reset. 4/
Do you think “I have no idea what I would do with my time?”

That is exactly why you should plan time. If you’ve lost ability to think about what you could do that would be meaningful or fun, you definitely need to take some time. 5/
A stressed mind struggles with creativity, play, complex thinking and problem solving. You need time away to begin to think about what you enjoy doing. To reset. 6/
If you are a leader, you absolutely need to take time off. Your team is watching and will be taking their cues from you. If you take time off, they will. If you don't, they will feel like they can't. 7/
Don’t think about using vacation now as wasting it. Vacation time is never wasted. It’s an investment in you.

It is truly a state of mind we can all benefit from! #resilience #vacation #reset #resilience #mindfulness #leadership 8/8
