The 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management

| A Thread |

A high value under the radar book I stumbled upon:

Read the summary & interpretation below:

1/29
Part 1: Managing Your Time

Law 1 - You control your life by controlling your time.

This is one of the core values of Money Twitter.

It's one of the things we are all striving for.

Financial Freedom.

Why?

Because we understand that true wealth is controlling your TIME.
Law 2 - Your governing values are the foundation of personal fulfillment.

In order to reach inner peace and have a sense of satisfaction with your life.

You must be working in line with your governing values.
When you start to deviate from these, it becomes harder to reach a sense of satisfaction with your day to day life.

That is why most people that get jobs for the sake of making money and paying bills have little to no satisfaction.
This is also the reason financial freedom is so important.

We now have the TIME to do what we believe is important to us vs spending the majority of our waking hours sitting at a desk crunching numbers and feeling miserable.
This also applies to people that do have to work on a schedule basis but get a sense of satisfaction from their jobs.

Ill use myself as an example.

I work as a Physical Therapist and am able to help people live better lives every day.

This gives me a sense of purpose
I build great rapport with people on a daily basis and have developed great relationships because of it.

It is common to see burn out with these types of careers.

That's why it's important to think ahead and plan for it in advance.

How?

Multiple Sources of Income.

Assets.
Law 3 - When your daily activities reflect your governing values, you experience inner peace.

This is exactly what we just spoke about.

You can do this in 2 ways:

1. By finding a career that alines with your values and gives you a sense of satisfaction every day.
Or

2. By building passive income producing assets and eventually becoming financially free.

The 2nd option gives you the free time you need in order to do things that fulfill you and provide you with a sense of joy and inner peace.
Law 4 - To reach any significant goal, you must leave your comfort zone.

This is one of the most important things and is where modern society fails us.

Everything in today's world revolves around comfort

This keeps us from growing and achieving things that are valuable to us.
People make just enough to cover their bills and to pay for their Netflix subscription and food deliveries.

In turn this leads to an unmotivated and lazy mindset.

Eventually spilling into lack of movement and exercise combined with a poor diet.
There's a reason most of the US is overweight and living paycheck to paycheck.

This is a serious problem and it is slowly killing us.

You NEED to pursue occasional discomfort to grow and reaching goals that align with your values in order to get inner peace.
How do you do this?

- Work hard outside of your 9-5 and build other sources of income.

- Exercise daily

- Delay gratification

- Don't buy things you don't need.

- Stop eating crap food.

- Learn to be uncomfortable.

- Take cold showers.

- Run
Law 5 - Daily planning leverages time through increased focus.

Another one of the themes we see frequently on Money Twitter.

People plan.

They set goals.

Daily goals, Weekly goals, Short term goals, Long term goals.
This is one of the reasons the majority of people on here are more focused, pursuing bigger things, and are bound to be successful.

Planning is an underrated task and should not be taken lightly.

A goal without a plan has a much lower chance of happening.
Part 2. Managing Your Life

This is a more common struggle than you think.

Most people have a hard time managing their lives and struggle with this.

It is key to have a better grasp on things in order to be successful in all aspects of life.
Law 6 - Your behavior is a reflection of what you truly believe.

Your beliefs govern your actions

Your actions govern your behavior

People seem to have a tough time accepting this one.

If you don't believe me ask @CMillerTalks about the death threats he got for saying this.
Law 7 - You satisfy needs when your beliefs are in line with reality.

When your beliefs line up with the reality of your life, you are able to satisfy your needs and desires.

How do you know what your beliefs are?

Through Meditation: Sitting alone with your thoughts
And

Through journaling: Reflecting on your thoughts and writing them down.

Is it possible to change our belief system?

Yes

It's not easy

But through education and exposure it is possible to change our thoughts and beliefs.
Law 8 - Negative behaviors are overcome by changing incorrect beliefs.

Negative behaviors are when you are constantly engaging in activities that don't align with your belief system.

An example:

When I was constantly going out with my friends and partying on the weekends.
At some point I realized my time could be better spent doing other things.

I would continue going but felt that I was not in line with what I truly wanted to do.

These are negative behaviors, and lead to dissatisfaction in your life.
It can be hard to change these behaviors when everything around you nudges in that direction.

It will be hard when you actually do it.

But once you start to align with your beliefs, it will be worth it.
Law 9 - Your self-esteem must ultimately come from within.

Your sense of worth must come from within and not be reliant on external sources.

Most of society nowadays is constantly seeking approval of others in order to build self esteem.
If you want to see what I mean go on Instagram for 5 minutes.

People posting fake lives and editing their photos with all kinds of filters for the approval of strangers.

Its what they've built their sense of worth on.

This is a BIG mistake and can collapse at any moment.
Your thoughts have a big role in this.

You have to train your mind and build yourself up.

When you are confident in yourself and value your worth.

Nothing can take that away from you.

You are essentially unstoppable.
Law 10 - Give more and you’ll have more.

The final law and my current favorite.

A highly underutilized trait in the modern world.

Everything is about taking.

There is not enough giving.

Whether you believe in an external force that is greater than us or not.
This still applies.

By giving, you are essentially setting yourself up to have more.

Don't ask me how this works because I don't know.

But give it a try and see for yourself.

You don't even have to go our of your way.

If the occasion were to arise where you can help.
Jump on the opportunity to help someone out.

These things have a way of coming back to you.

That's why I pledged to work weekly Pro Bono hours for people that need and can't afford it.
