Today you will be hearing from @tmeinen2 and how she got started in the world of #RespiratoryTherapy. She will also discuss where the profession has taken her. Follow along and feel free to ask any questions along the way! (thread)
Be An RT: "What is your current role?"
@tmeinen2: "My roles are 1) the Director of Clinical Education for the #RT Program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI, 2) Delegate for the Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care,..."
@tmeinen2: "3) Speaker Chair for the North Regional Respiratory Care Conference, and 4) recently hired per diem #RT for Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire (rehired in case there was a Covid 19 surge)."
Be An RT: "How did you get there?"
@tmeinen2: "I started as a staff #therapist after graduating from Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. However, I was always looking for extra opportunities. I was involved in numerous committees and I loved precepting new employees and teaching other disciplines."
@tmeinen2: "After a few years, I knew I wanted to advance in my career and a #BachelorsDegree was the only clear path to accomplish this. About half way through my degree, I was at a crossroads - management or education."
@tmeinen2: "That was when a new #RT Program was started at our local community college. I have been there from the start and I can’t imagine my life any other way. I am exactly where I am supposed to be."
@tmeinen2: "After starting my teaching role, I decided to get involved in the WSRC. I’ve been membership committee chair, education committee chair, and delegate. I am super lucky to work with amazing people from all over Wisconsin including several of my graduates."
@tmeinen2: "Through my involvement in the WSRC, I also became involved in the North Regional Respiratory Care Conference (NRRCC) which is a bi-state conference hosted by Wisconsin and Minnesota. I have served in the Speaker Chair role for about 10 years."
@tmeinen2: "I also serve on the Joint Executive Committee which organizes and makes decisions for this event. We host about 400 RT’s and students every year and provide about 15-17 CRCE’s."
@tmeinen2: "I am very proud to #BeAnRT and I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I wasn’t. That initial decision to go to RT school started me down the path to where I am now. And I really do have the best job in the world!"
