Here’s a thread on #sourdough starters. No technical info her but just feelings. Building a starter from scratch you develop an emotional bond with it - it’s like an adopted child or pet. You grow it and nuture it, often for years. It’s no different for us. #theEnthuBakers.
I’ve recently heard a student say they don’t want to bake sourdoughs; after spending so much time with the starter and it was emotionally devastating when it died. Yes, that’s why we even name them. #theEnthubakers
My 2 of 3 starters. Veeru & Gabbar. There’s a Jai too who’s chilling in the fridge. Veeru is the oldest & strongest - multi-flour mix, used in breads. Jai is all maida - pizzas & flatbreads. Gabbar is Ragi - newly born, dark, unpredictable for experiments #theEnthuBakers
The starter names also reflective or our personalities. @ritesh_to has Jaggu dada & Chinoy Seth. Try saying something against them. #theEnthubakers
The fun and vivacious @rach_aha has Bun Jovi and Bread Pitt! 😂 If you know her, you won’t be surprised at the creativity. #theEnthubakers The breads come out as stylish!
@SangeetKothari’s Melody, Harmony and Rythm - all part of Sangeet! #theEnthubakers
@SandeepMall’s Machli. Sandeep is an accomplished wildlife photographer. Named after the famous “mother” Tigress of Ranthambore - they say 60 % of the tiger population there are Machli’s descendants. Appropriate name. #theEnthubakers
Gee’s sahelis - Seeta, Geeta, Mausi and Reeta. In true Bollywood story telling style of writer and poetess @GayatriiM. We were heartbroken when she lost Reeta to an accident after producing her first fabulous loaf! #theEnthuBakers
We are waiting for @dibbi18 to build her family. Coming soon.

I’m sure these starters will make for some interesting #theEnthuBakers stories in times to come. Stay tuned.
