The police in America are the state-sanctioned enforcers of white supremacy. When they allow armed terrorists to invade the Michigan state house but use extreme force against unarmed protesters standing up for the lives of black people they're not being hypocrites--
They're doing their job.

Their job, quite literally, is to impose the will of the state with violent force and the will of the state is the will of white supremacy.

It's not a flaw, it's the way the system is meant to work here.
People got mad at a thread I did yesterday when I suggested not to call the police on a black person. But honestly I don't think calling the police is EVER the best response to ANY situation. And I'm saying this as someone who has been in dangerous, deadly situations
where the police did not help. Where the police made things worse. And they considered me a white woman so I mean, if they made things bad for ME can you imagine how, on average, they make things bad for everyone else???
The police in the US are not meant to protect the citizens they claim they serve; the police in the US are meant to uphold the will of the state and the will of the state is, say it with me now, WHITE SUPREMACY
We have to move beyond calling out hypocrisy and expecting an institution that's doing exactly what it is designed to do to recognize that hypocrisy. We have to elevate those doing the work of creating alternative systems and assist them as best we can
