Sex is great, but have you ever had a whole day to yourself in a big city where you take your laptop somewhere and work in a busy cafe or library for a change of scene and then you pop into the grocery store on the way home to see if anything looks good for dinner
And then nothing looks good and you're not hungry anyway but there's a cool old movie playing up the block so you go watch it by yourself in the dark with other people who are by themselves, too and then you go across the street for a glass of wine and some soup with your book
And when you come out of the bistro it's drizzling a little bit but not fully raining and it's only about a mile home so you decide to walk in the almost-rain and think of nothing in particular but then it starts to full-on rain so you duck into the little dessert place
You're eating a tiny perfect tart and reading your book some more when you realize that the people a few tables away are old friends you haven't seen in a while. They invite you to join them so everybody orders some prosecco and you drink it and try more desserts
You sit there for another hour catching up and drinking and the café is closing so you & your friends leave a giant tip and put on coats and hug each other goodbye and then you forget a funny story you wanted to tell so you tell it and then you hug again
Lingering in the cafe doorway under the awning waiting for the rain to stop. You finally say goodbye and hug about 5 more times, then you split up and walk home alone, watching car lights and street lights shine on the wet pavement in the quiet city.
