Is it the fact that the dry rep happens to include a towel or the fact that the towel drill cues opening early, pushing and reaching into ball release? I can mess up anyone on plyos too with those cues. https://twitter.com/devin_rose_/status/1254144759855104003
Plyos can be detrimental or helpful to a pattern (we see plenty of both). It comes down to the individual cues/drill/athlete’s pattern. How the traditional towel drill is taught is problematic, but dry reps in and of themselves aren’t inherently good or bad.
Case in point, I can push a plyo and whip a towel. Or I can whip a plyo and push a towel. Whichever you want I can make the data show, depending on the cues used.
100% agree though if we’re talking about not reaching into release to slap an imaginary bucket.
