Say remember when Film Twitter wouldn't shut the fuck up about how evil and horrible Marvel movies are cuz Martin Scorsese said he didn't like em?

That whole argument feels REEEEAL damn petty now dunnit?
Scorsese dismissed Marvel movies as "a theme park."

Well, maybe a theme park is what we all psychologically need right about now.
The Irishman is on Netflix. We could all watch it any time.

But what we crave, what we all YEARN for, what we all positively ACHE for right now...is to feel the way we all felt seeing Endgame on opening night.
A bonding, communal experience of strangers cheering and rejoicing together, captivated by big hero moments and strong, visceral storytelling.

I don't give a fuck what any snob says. THAT is fucking cinema.

And I miss it Goddamn it.
I think that's a simplistic dichotomy and I wholeheartedly reject it.

Maybe entertainment doesn't always NEED to be "challenging," whatever the fuck that even means anymore, to be valid. https://twitter.com/HintShade/status/1254231611991785473
LIFE is challenging. Especially now. You want a "challenge," run through an obstacle course or something. Give me my unfrozen war hero beating the shit out of a genocidal purple alien with the weapon of a fucking Norse God ANY DAY. https://twitter.com/HintShade/status/1254231611991785473
That does tend to happen when life smacks into ya like that, dunnit?

Maybe that's why struggling poor and working-class people, from all walks of life, don't tend to go for the "highbrow" shit. https://twitter.com/HintShade/status/1254233905013698560
I can't help but feel like when all this is over, Film Intelligentsia in general will have a HUGE come-to-Jesus moment about the intrinsic value of "popcorn entertainment." https://twitter.com/HintShade/status/1254233905013698560
You seem like such a happy, optimistic person with lots of friends. https://twitter.com/botno1264346/status/1254233775988490246
HOLY shit I didn't even realize it was the anniversary

But...yeah, it is. April 25. One year ago tonight.

Feels like it may as well have been a hundred years. https://twitter.com/SidewaysMosque/status/1254236372963143682
your profile pic is you with antlers https://twitter.com/ToliBera/status/1254237175178289153
It also COMPLETELY ignores how much "classic literature" straight-up WAS the "dumb popcorn entertainment" of its day. And from historians who should know better, no less.

@the_moviebob made a REALLY good video about exactly that, in fact.
