1/ A lot of business leaders are trying to figure out right now how quickly they can "get back to normal." That's a mistake.
2/ We need to start over and reconsider everything from company strategy to the workplace, from first principles.
3/ The data is clear that we are not "going back to normal." That is wishful thinking. The companies that run toward the new world fastest will win.
4/ Some of our @Greylock portfolio companies have decided not to renew their leases, and to go remote-first.
5/ Some are shipping entirely new products, with a pandemic-appropriate lower bar for "MVP." Is Zoom close to perfect for broadcasting live classes? Nope. Is it saving lots of IRL businesses right now? Yes. People and businesses have new and very acute problems. Solve them.
6/ Some are restructuring their customer-facing organizations for lighter touch adoption, implementation and support.
7/7 Changing strategy in the face of COVID isn't ambulance-chasing. There is structural, long-lasting change happening, and those that adapt and position themselves for it will thrive.
