Interesting Romney oped.
At least on the trade parts, I would guess that most Democrats are pretty close to Romney. New bipartisan consensus?

Settling trade skirmishes with allies to focus on China is a pretty common view (though not one Trump shares)
But there is an important ambiguity here -- how should they view products designed by "our" companies but that are made in large part in China?

This isn& #39;t entirely a theoretical issue -- both Cisco and Ericsson make a lot of telco equipment in China. Buying from them is comparatively easy. Convincing them to change their supply lines/ assembly is doable, but takes more investment (and stronger incentives)
This is an issue that @geoffreygertz has raised -- namely that trade decoupling, especially if done together with a concert of nations, would take a bit of coordination.
