Thread: Biden still seems fixated on his "Battle for the Soul of the Nation" primary message. Tbh it& #39;s pretty reminiscent of Clinton& #39;s "What kind of nation do we want to be?" moral argument vs. Trump that...didn& #39;t work so well in & #39;16. https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1253446047273062401">https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/...
For now, all Biden needs to do to maintain his lead - both nationally and in the EC battleground - is stay out of his own way & let the president be his own worst enemy. But there& #39;s no guarantee that will be true all of the next six months.
A lot of Dems bemoan that Biden is at a messaging disadvantage b/c he& #39;s trapped in a basement while Trump holds two hour White House briefings.

Biden& #39;s real problem: if you asked voters what his campaign message is in ten words or less, many would struggle.
At some point, Biden is going to need a sharper, more coherent November message for persuadable voters.

One Dem strategist& #39;s not-so-complicated advice: “& #39;Joe Biden. Because it’s time for change.& #39; Change is the best word in the English language in a wrong track election."
These two things can simultaneously be true:

1) Biden is well ahead and would beat Trump if the election were held today.
2) Clinton was farther ahead of Trump at this point in 2016.

It won& #39;t be as easy for Biden to hold onto a lead vs. Trump as it looks today.
P.S. If your defense of the strategy/message the Clinton campaign employed in & #39;16 is "But she won 3 million more votes!"...you might want to think of a new argument.
