Trump is the guy who didn't buy fire insurance. China is the arsonist. You can obviously have a discussion about the irresponsibility of not buying fire insurance, but you can't blame that dude for the fire.
Yes yes, flawed analogy, people are dying, I understand. I'm trying to separate the issues of "how we responded to an evolving situation" and "whose fault it is that an evolving situation even existed."

I dunno. Maybe this is too nuanced a distinction for many people. I think "a better response could have saved lives" is not the same thing as "those deaths were his fault." When there is an underlying malicious act to it all, blaming an irresponsible intermediary feels wrong.
I mean, if you need more proof at this point that I've been firmly against the downplayers since the beginning then I don't know what else I can do. And yes Trump has used China to deflect from criticism of how he acted. But people are going WAY TOO FAR to pin it all on him.
