My mom just told me that one of my grandma's brothers, so my uncle, got a dishonorable discharge for "slapping the shit out of an officer who called him a nigger" but then he asked Sen. Hubert Humphrey to get it made an honorable discharge. And he did. Incredible.
He slapped the shit out of a white officer in the 50s. And got it overturned in the 60s. What?! This story is WILD.

Man, what the fuck?! My mom told me when my grandma got remarried (to the only grandpa I knew), she just declared herself married at one point and then secretly got married at a church WITHOUT TELLING MY MOM OR MY AUNT OR ANYONE ELSE.
