/ Love this article that highlights the promise and challenges of contact tracing. Includes insights from an expert who led Ebola tracing efforts in Liberia. And great quotes from all-star @kj_seung. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/04/10/contact-tracing-coronavirus-strategy/">https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/20...
/ In Massachusetts, @PIH is planning to hire and train 1,000 contact tracers. Working from their homes making 10 to 12 calls a day, they could cover up to 20,000 patients a day. Within four days, the group had received 7,000 applicants and hired 150.
/ “People want to help. They’re tired of just sitting at home and waiting to be infected,” said @kj_seung , a program director for Partners in Health. “There’s a huge untapped resource of people in America if we would just ask.”
/ I know that in places in FL, asymptomatic contacts are sent a once-daily text asking whether new symptoms have developed during their quarantine. If they reply “yes”, tracers receive an email alert that triggers follow-up to get the individual scheduled for testing.
/ A phone conversation with a contact tracer can play an important role in changing behavior and helping people make smart decisions.
I hope more states will pursue the aggressive approach being modeled by Massachusetts. https://twitter.com/rich_shannan/status/1247333065304596480?s=20">https://twitter.com/rich_shan...
