I know that the Dutch (and a few others) will defend the member-state competence over their tax policies to the hilt. But I also have to believe that the Netherlands euro area partners will be looking to use all their leverage to force some big changes once this is over.
The IMF should also step up its surveillance of the Netherlands and other corporate tax centers. Far too often in the past it has viewed them as model countries with prudent fiscal policies (helped by the extra tax they collect at others' expense) and pro-business policies.
In addition to enabling tax avoidance, Dutch fiscal policies made it harder for their neighbors to grow, by sucking demand out of the Dutch economy when the ECB was at the zero bound.
Time to take the gloves off so to speak ...
