For people that are new to take-out and delivery experiences here are a few tips to launching things that are a little different than what you're normally doing. You're probably known for being a cool burger place, an amazing sushi place, or lots of other options.
But, you should start offering your guests other things. You have some pretty talented people in your restaurant that probably know how to cook other things than what you normally offer. So do a little menu planning first!
Then, reach out to your guests and see if that's something they would want to buy. A twitter post, facebook post, newsletter, an email? YES to all those things. Tell them what you're thinking and ask if you are missing something, they'll let you know.
Find a platform to sell these things directly to them. If it is for pick-up then great, if your third party app doesn't work as quickly as you need it to then don't worry. There are options:
You can set up a storefront on @squarespace and treat your restaurant like a retail shop. Set up pick up times for your guests and just handle things like you're selling t-shirts but delicious ones that you can serve. @tock is a good option too!
They have a delivery and take out option for their site and have waved all of their fees. I use a combination of both systems so it's good to have options!
When you are getting ready to launch dates you'll want something to stand out a little. You don't have to take pictures or hire someone for that right now. You can use an app called @canva.
It's pretty slick and allows you to customize a visual really quickly and post it anywhere.
When you launch on social media create a facebook ads account and target your audience for the new thing you're looking at selling. You've never done a fried chicken night? That's ok. Find people that like fried chicken, KFC, Popeye's, and any other place that's known....
for fried chicken when you make your ad. Attribute a budget to it, $25-$50. Select the age range, location, and even more of who you think are your buyers. Then link it to your instagram as well and make it live.
The idea there is people are at home and bored so they're probably on their phones anyway so give them something to look at, buy, and eat.
Sales start happening? You know what...... There's probably more experiences you can add! Have a cool produce person you work with? Talk to them and make produce bags to sell for them. Fish person? How about a fish market to pick up? Soups? Yes! Dry goods? YES!
The possibilities are pretty endless. Thing is, people want to support you so if you give them options they'll be really happy and excited! If you have questions about this madness then shoot me an email [email protected] I want nothing in return. Just make food!
