Positive association observed between (1) defending inadequate testing in the initial phase when #Covid_19 hadn’t yet assumed #pandemic proportions AND supporting #lockdown w/ min empathy & (2) reiterating the importance of testing widely AND the problems of #LockdownWithoutPlan
Limitation : Very small sample size of tweets, re-tweets, likes, mostly of males of #medtwitter and very few #WomenInMedicine Indian at heart, passport status notwithstanding.
Research qs : Is this phenomenon merely a result of divergent political leanings? Is this about wanting to see Modi / Trump emerge victorious or defeated at the other end? Or do groups 1 and 2 value different things?
Conclusion : group (1) focused only on hospital related statistics to gain a sense of control over the situation. group ; could be okay with “eugenics” - the weak deserve to be destroyed. Group (2) cognizant of the many other forms of healthcare concerns and ethical misgivings.
That’s my personal take. Who do you think has the more correct approach?
