tfw your therapist loosens a knot in 2 minutes that you've been pinching and prying at for 10 years

I feel like, as a rule, if you find yourself stuck on something for more than 3 months and you can't seem to get unstuck, what you need isn't to think smarter or try harder or prioritize it higher. what you need is help
if you're holding back on getting help because you 'know you can do it yourself', but you never manage to do it yourself - or you only manage it once or twice by white-knuckling it - you might not 'know you can do it yourself' so much as not know why you can't
in general I feel like there aren't a lot of things that can be brute forced. I like thinking that I could amass a crucial threshold of willpower and just bust through a barrier, but pretty much nothing in my life has actually ceded to that
