Haven’t been keeping this thread updated but these are my latest two reads. Something old &something new.

The Coming was gifted to me by 3 different people last Christmas. Even then idt I was prepared for such a deep dive into the collective consciousness of our ancestors. Found myself reading and weeping in public on multiple occasions.

I first read Their Eyes Were Watching God in high school I think. Rereading it as a young woman I found myself connecting a lot more with Janie’s struggle to differentiate her expectation for herself from those around her. Their Eyes is a coming of age story that

I find new parallels and lessons in every time I read it. I think I’m gonna keep doing so every couple of years

My latest 3 reads gifted to me by the wonderful @successChaser24 ! I think World of Wakanda was my fave. A great introduction to the Wakanda multiverse. Also, one of the Dora Milaje’s names is Nailah

A welcome departure from some of the more weighty novels I’ve read as of late. An upbeat and witty read for black women of all ages that have found themselves just trying to figure out what’s next.

Def gives me hope for all of my future personal, professional, and romantic endeavors

Finally finished and it was lowkey a read lmao. Sometimes I find myself pushing back against my calling cause the rout wasn’t necessarily the one I planned on taking. Being impactful takes discipline, vision, and FLEXIBILITY.

Michelle Obama is the perfect example of what it means to be mailable while still maintaining your foundational integrity.
