1. On (Non-Existent) Trumpism

There is no such thing as Trumpism. It is something liberal media is desperate to invent because it thinks it can somehow tar the GOP with Trump's stylistic traits while ignoring Trump's accomplishments. Allow me to elaborate.
2. First of all, stop deconstructing 2016 election. It isn't very complicated at all. If you're desperate to look for policy underpinnings, here's the sum total of it all.

Voters got really sick of incomprehensible nonsense.
So they voted for comprehensible nonsense.
3. It is very hard for policy wonks to accept that voters don't analyze, or compare and contrast, policy positions in detail. Trust is paramount, and we are not talking about absolute trust, but relative trust. The ruling classes of both parties had lost people's trust.
4. Millions of voters voted for Trump for no other reason than he was the only candidate perceived to be rough & tough enough to beat the Clinton machine. The other 16 Republicans, some of them with impeccable conservative credentials, were too genteel for the Clinton maw.
5. And more than any policy wonkery, people ached for America to be great again, after the incessant apologia of the Obama years -- people who had worked hard all their lives to make an honest living for their families, but were being berated just for being Americans.
6. Trump recognized and tapped into that hunger. He continues to do that to this day. Conservatives have good ideas. The nation is fundamentally conservative, because it was conceived as such in its founding.
7. With practically all of marquis media (NYT, WaPo, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, et al) in the tank for liberals, the most they are able to achieve is an evenly split nation politically. If the media were to take its thumb off the scale, Democrat party will disintegrate.
8. To prevail, all conservatives have to do is bring high-minded (and correct) concepts to a layman's viewpoint so they resonate at a gut level. And for conservative candidates to win, outside blue enclaves, all they have to do on top is to demonstrate an indomitable will to win.
9. Any conservative candidate with these 3 traits will be unbeatable in any free and fair election outside blue enclaves:
a) Conservative convictions in the soul
b) Ability to articulate conservative positions unapologetically
c) Will to win (not to please the press)
10. All the angst about Trump doing damage to conservatism is unfounded and misplaced, in my opinion. In his policies and executive actions, Trump has governed as an unadulterated conservative.
11. Trump's style is ephemeral and unique to him. It serves an instrumental purpose as an escutcheon against the vicious slings and arrows from all corners that won't stop no matter how gentlemanly he becomes. That's the harsh truth.
12. Trump's style will leave when he leaves. He is one of a kind in that regard. No other politicians dare try his style. They will only make a miserable fool of themselves if they tried. Hence, there is no Trumpism, no matter how hard the liberal media tries to fling that trope.
13. When Trump leaves the White House, America will be in a far better shape in every way than when he entered. Republicans and Democrats can then go to town, and build on top of that. He will do no lasting harm, and a whole lot of good. I view Trump as much needed chemotherapy.
14. Trump stands astride the chasm of the sclerotic defeatism of Obama & later Bush years and a re-energized, self-confident & economically dynamic nation we are well on our way to becoming. There will not be another Trump. Stop obsessing over who he is. Focus on what he does.
15. If Trump is successful in denuclearizing the Korean peninsula, and having eviscerated ISIS, if he somehow can also put the Middle East on a firm footing toward durable peace, he would have proven himself to be one of the greatest American presidents. Rejoice at that prospect!
16. Don't obsess over which party label Trump carries. He is a uniquely American wonder. And he is working for America the beautiful. Root for him to succeed in Korea and Middle East, no matter how unconventional his style.
17. Some results (in Korea and Middle East) are way too important for the U.S., and frankly for the world, to ankle-bite him over peccadilloes from a time long before he entered the White House. There will be time enough for salacious gossip later, in a peaceful world.

The END.
