Started a listening project with my SIL @DoctaDom a few months ago to listen to the top 500 albums of all time, according to @RollingStone. Starting from 500 on March 2, I& #39;ve had some thoughts...
Things started out slow...
#496 Box Scaggs: Boz Scaggs - "Did not love it"
#491 Albert King: Born Under A Bad Sign - "Now this I like"
#488 Hüsker Dü: New Day Rising - "Not for me really"
But things started to pick up...
#487 Cyndi Lauper: She& #39;s So Unusual - "first song features melodica; sets tone for loving the whole album"
Until...
#477 Merle Haggard: Down Evert Road (1962-1994) - "OH MY GOD! This album has ONE HUNDRED SONGS! This can& #39;t be. This is not fair. Come on Rolling Stone!

(It took three days to get through this entire album)
#476 The Notorious B.I.G.: Life After Death - "It& #39;s freaky as heck that all his albums were titled about dying & death. It& #39;s bad when he tries to "sing" ("Another"). Also hard to get past all the uses of bitch & other derogatory terms for women. Good beats tho, so it& #39;s too bad."
#474 Manu Chao: Próxima Estación...Esperanza - "I thought for a moment I could understand Spanish til I realised parts of some songs were in French."
#470 L.L. Cool J: Radio - "Feels like a caricature of hip hop music from this time; I guess that means it was pretty influential."
#469 Fugees: The Score - "Oh yeees. Love this one! More Lauryn!"
#468 The Paul Butterfield Blues Band: The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - "I liked this a lot. I played it twice."
#463 Echo And The Bunnymen: Heaven Up Here - "Really dug this. Will listen to more E&TB"
#462 R.E.M: Document - Only found an extended version of the album (didn& #39;t listen to all live versions); really liked this one. REM is good, can& #39;t deny it."
#461 PiL: Metal Box - "This one is doing nothing for me. I find myself still singing REM over top while listening to PiL."
Some reviews were more simple than others...
#451 Amy Winehouse: Back to Black - "https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👍🏼" title="Thumbs up (medium light skin tone)" aria-label="Emoji: Thumbs up (medium light skin tone)">"
#448 The Police: Synchronicity - "So Stingy"
#445 Steve Miller Band: Fly Like An Eagle - "Groovy"
Others came with deep realizations...
#444 War: The World Is A Ghetto - & #39;I always thought the words to the title track were & #39;The world is a devil& #39; - now I know better."
#442 Devo: Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! - "This album features a cover of the Rolling Stone& #39;s Satisfaction that no one asked for. This album is wacky in an unpleasant way."
#441 Suicide: Suicide - "The song Girl made me uncomfortable. I& #39;M AT WORK!" & "I am not cool enough for this; during Frankie Teardrop I just kept thinking & #39;When will this be over?& #39; "
Some albums went by unnoticed, others were more impactful...
#439 Sam Cooke: Live At The Harlem Square Club 1963 - "A++, listened on repeat all day."
#438 The Cure: Boys Don& #39;t Cry - "The ending of Subway Song gave me a fright."
It& #39;s been almost 2 years since I added to this thread and of course now seems like the appropriate time to pick up back up again.
