Is it pretentious to ask if I should drop my skin routine
Alrighty y’all buckle up bc this is gonna be one long ass thread I am v passionate about my skincare
First a disclaimer bc the first pic has a filter. Know your skin type! No one’s skin is perfect, but I don’t really get acne and I have “normal” skin. My routine is for making your skin glow/dewy. This is my face this morning before getting out of bed puffy eyes and all 🙈
First off, if I wear any makeup during the day I like to remove it using micelles water. I’ve tried to stop using makeup and limit it to concealer in places I want to even out.
In the morning I cleanse with cetaphil (I’ve never tried the special face one) and at night I use peppermint Dr. Bronners (I cried when I saw that minseok uses it too). Lather a few drops before applying to your face, it can be really strong/drying but I like feeling super clean.
I always pat my face dry with a new face towel in the morning and night. Just get a pack from Costco, it’s worth the investment and doing laundry!
Right now, I’m using two toners just bc I have them both. Pixie by Petra is best for clearing and exfoliating with cotton pads. Soon Jung toner is great for moisture, and I like to pat on 1-2 layers.
Next, I like to keep my skin bright and try to prevent/treat dark spots with vitamin c serums. I currently use klairs, but other alternatives I’ve used you can look into are TIAM C Source and VC effector. Klairs is pricier but more accessible in the US.
I added the Soon Jung emulsion to add another layer of moisture. Tbh it can almost feel like too much at first but I think it helps moisture last. I’d suggest eliminating it if you’re easing into a new routine or using it as a light moisturizer in hot weather.
Finally, my moisturizers a really basic. Nivea creme at night and Nivea soft in the mornings. Creme can be too heavy for some people (you look really oily). Since I’m young, I focus my money on serums and toners. I don’t need anti-aging, etc. and these ent the job done
For bonus fun stuff, I’m a sheet mask addict. Lately I’ve been using Lululun (Japanese) and My Beauty Diary (Chinese). I also like the Leole water drop sleeping pack.
For pore care and exfoliation, I use this clay mask and scrub. Tbh I just use them bc they were popular online when I was in high school and kbeauty became a craze lol. Also it’s probably bad but I use a metal extractor to clear stubborn sebum sometimes
And that concludes my thread on unnecessarily extensive skin routines. Is it a hobby? A means of self care or stress relief? An addiction? The world may never know
