not sure if anyone has done this already but here it is; a thread explaining the up10tion members' birth names (in hanja)! sources include their interview with tenasia in 2016 + their chi wiki page.

i got bored so i thought i could do up a thread like this to share hahaha and again my apologies if anyone has done this before alr! as usual, pls quote if needed. c:

1. jinhoo

‣ birth name: kim jinwook ¦¦ hanja written as '金辰昱', read as 'jin chen yu'

• '辰' taken from the word '星辰', which means 'constellation' or 'stars'
• '昱' itself means 'bright light'
• he was named 'to shine bright like a star'

2. kuhn

‣ birth name: no sooil ¦¦ hanja written as '卢秀一', read as ''lu xiu yi"

• '秀' taken from the word '优秀', which means 'outstanding'
• '一' itself means 'one'
• his father named him, wanting him to be the 'one & only outstanding man'

3. kogyeol

‣ birth name: go minsoo ¦¦ hanja written as '高敏秀', read as ''gao min xiu"

• '敏' taken from the word '敏捷', which means 'agile'
• '秀' taken from the word '优秀', which means 'outstanding'

4. wei

• '奎' taken from the word '奎星', otherwise known as 'the great bear', one of the 28 constellations
• '珍' itself means 'precious' or 'treasure'

9. hwanhee

• '欢喜' basically means 'happiness' or 'joy', his parents named him that so that he could live happily

10. xiao

• '烈' itself means 'burn' or 'light up'
