I'm gonna talk about My Hero Academia, Masks, and Protean City as I watch.

If you're just here for Protean City, mute this thread I'll keep everything responding to this.

I'm 7 episodes into season 1. Lets talk characters.
Before I can really talk playbooks I need to actually back up and talk about the world and how it's shaped the characters differently.

The MHA world is one like #MasksRPG where we are at least on our 2nd Generation of heroes.
Unlike in Masks, we seem to jump straight to a Silver Age. MHA doesn't seem to have heroes like Striped Eagle, we're jumping straight to the high power heroes like Xenostra. I think that changes a lot of how the world is set up and that messes with some playbooks.
For the most part, Izuku our main character, is a Beacon. He has no Quirk but is nevertheless excited to be here. Like our hero Sohcahtoa he's bright and charming.

He really spends almost all of episodes 1 and 2 just making Team move after Team move.
He shows everyone how weak he is and is constantly asking "Do I belong here?" and "Can I be a hero?"

Many tell him no, which makes him angry and sadder which only reveals his weakness to more people.

Until he meets All Might. Who says yes.
He marks potential, probably filling his track. He's been rolling really really poorly so far. Izuku gives All Might influence but he already has it, so All Might shifts his Savior up and his Mundane down. Training begins.
I don't know if it's with this one or a later one but Izuku definitely has the Protege move "Been Reading the Files"
The only other character I've gotten a grasp on right now is Bakugo who is the Delinquent.

He is powerful. He bucks the system. He says he doesn't care what you think.

I forget if it's 6 or 7 but we find out that he's largely driven by how Izuku treats him.
Where all the kids treated him like a powerful hero, Izuku treated Katsuki Bakugo like a person. When he falls, it doesn't matter that he has powers and Izuku doesn't. Izuku comes to save him. That drives Bakugo nuts. NUTS. Because he cares.
Anyway that's where I am.

I'll just throw this out there. I think Izuku is going to transition playbooks. Not to the Protege like you might think, but to the Bull.

More on that later.
I think that Iida might be the Soldier.
In a weird bit of gamification, at the end of Episode 7 Izuku does a team move and tells Bakugo (whos is on his team but technically his enemy right now) that he's awesome. He adds a team to his pool which is shallow because he and Uraraka haven't really fight together.
Bakugo does NOT tell him he's awesome in return.

Ikugo takes a powerful blow from Bakugo's attack, but rolls a 10+. He loses control of his powers, but makes an opportunity for Uraraka who directly engages Iida with a floating pillar.
Ep08. Izuko follows Bakugo out into the courtyard and tries to pierce his mask which triggers Bakugo's Mary Contrary move. He rolls well and Izuko has to mark Insecure.
Sorry I skipped a few. I'm trying to write some hot takes while I watch. I want to go back later and talk about some of these arcs in more detail later.

I'm up to episode 19. Season 2 is interesting. Todoroki is our Legacy and he just shared a weakness with Midoriya
He's not a kid and I don't think it really needs to be stated, but obviously Present Mic was The Star playbook.
Oh my god. All the adults and people in the stands are so supporting of everyone. This show is so good.
Ep22 Midoriya has a run in with Endeavor. The adult hero tries to tell him how he should fight. Shifting up his danger and lowering his savior.

Midoriya rejects his influence, probably cancelling it and clearing Insecure.

#MasksRPG #BokuNoHeroAcademia
Episode 24 and Oh look! our first Bronze Age villain.
Finishing up season 2 and OH LOOK

The adults lied to the kids. I think the writers of this show and Protean City are reading the same books.
