“white feminism” isn’t simply about being white & identifying as feminist. It’s an ideology that professes to be “feminism” but intersects w/white supremacy such that it privileges the concerns, identities, & perspectives exclusively of white women + represents them as universal
what we refer to as white feminism might in fact more accurately be called white supremacist feminism.
Textbook example of white [supremacist] feminism: the @womensmarch celebrates the legacy of a woman who was deeply implicated in violence against women of color both domestically & abroad. Once again throwing women of color under the bus/ignoring our experiences & lives.
White [supremacist] feminism demands that women of color withhold critiques of white women, especially in positions of power, even when those women are engaging in acts of violence, harm, and racism against us.
To put it succinctly: within the lens of white [supremacist] feminism, women of color are not actually women, or even people. In this view, “women” means “white women.”

[hence the telling and oft-used phrase, “women and people of color”]
.......truth be told, white supremacist feminism [as I’m now calling it, because why not] isn’t actually feminism at all.

But since these folks self-identify as “feminists” the term is necessary.
you can be white and a feminist and not engage in white supremacist feminism 🌟🌟🌟 it takes effort though
