Today, Mark Jackson interviews to become head coach of the New York #Knicks. You should not want this. Here is a thread about why.

RT this to the moon and make sure to tag @scmills and @boxand21 so they know what’s up.

#NeverMarkJackson
REASON 1: Mark Jackson, as a player at age 37, staged a coup against future Hall of Famer John Stockton in Utah to try to take the starting job.

REASON 2: Despite his status as a preacher and a born-again Christian, Jackson had an affair with a stripper and was extorted over nude photos that said mistress had in her possession. Jackson offered little to no remorse for his actions.

Re: the affair. Normally I would say that’s his business, but after Derek Fisher-Matt Barnes, do we really want this kind of drama back in New York?
REASON 3: Jackson once brought Steph Curry to his church and “healed” his sprained ankle with magic oil. He then made Curry jump up and down to prove that it worked.

Please keep this man away from Kristaps Porzingis and his torn ACL, thanks.

REASON 4: Warriors owner Joe Lacob stated after firing Jackson that EVERYONE in the Warriors organization hated him. As in, 200+ employees.

REASON 5: This one should ring especially loud to @scmills and @boxand21: Jackson insisted that Jerry West, architect of the current Warriors powerhouse, stay away from practices. Mills and Perry were consistently around the team this year.

REASON 6: Former Cavs GM David Griffin (who oversaw their championship run) once flatly refused to hire Jackson, even when Jackson was LeBron’s preferred coaching candidate.

Griffin opposed mf’ing King James. That’s how bad Jackson is.

REASON 7: Jackson once told the Warriors that then-injured center Festus Ezeli was cheering for them to lose, so Ezeli would look good if they started winning when he returned. The players confronted Ezeli on the accusations, bringing him to tears.

REASON 8: Jackson’s assistants consistently looked to undermine him. Darren Erman felt the need to record locker room banter, and the extremely affable Brian Scalabrine refused to speak to, or even be near, Jackson.

(via http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/10855864/former-golden-state-warriors-assistant-fired-secretly-recording-conversations)
REASON 9: Continuing on from the last tweet, Jackson publicly trashed Erman and Scalabrine after he was fired. Those were his hand-picked assistants that he insisted on rolling with, despite management wanting him to hire better ones.

REASON 10: Jackson used a sermon at his church to publicly blast Warriors owner Joe Lacob after he was fired, keeping with the trend of saying whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

(via https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/12/9/7359961/mark-jackson-sermon-joe-lacob-warriors)
REASON 11: Jackson once used his announcing gig with ESPN to throw Richard Jefferson under the bus on national television.

(via http://awfulannouncing.com/nba/marc-jackson-called-out-former-player-richard-jefferson-for-costing-warriors-playoff-series-vs-spurs.html)
REASON 12: When asked if he would consider bringing on Jason Collins (the NBA’s first openly gay player), Jackson apparently tersely responded “Not in my locker room.”

Re: last tweet. The validity of that one is so-so, since Jackson allegedly said that to reporters and it was only reported months after. That said, he did say he was “praying for” Collins after he came out, so it’s definitely believable.

REASON 13: It’s hard to really nail down a source, but honestly I would not be surprised if Jackson actually thought that Harrison Barnes’ on-court performance was suffering because he was possessed by a demon.

(via https://www.reddit.com/r/warriors/comments/42b5ne/what_exactly_is_mark_jackson_accused_suspected_of/)
REASON 14: Jackson said on-air that he believes Steph Curry is “hurting the game” by shooting so many 3-pointers (or, “cheap points,” as they were referred by a previous Jackson on the Knicks)

(via https://sports.yahoo.com/news/mark-jackson-thinks-stephen-curry-is--hurting--basketball--warriors-don-t-agree-051804502.html)
REASON 15: Jackson led the Warriors to 51 wins, a 6 seed, and a 1st round exit vs. the Clippers in 2013-14. That team, with nearly the same roster, steamrolled its way to a top overall seed and a championship the next season under Steve Kerr.
REASON 16: Personal issues aside (although there are a TON), Jackson’s Golden State team ranked DEAD LAST in passes per game in the 2013-14 season, with 243.8 per game. The league-leading Spurs averaged 330.7. http://stats.nba.com/teams/passing/?Season=2013-14&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&sort=PASSES_MADE&dir=1
That’s all, folks! Thanks for listening! If I forgot anything, let me know. And of course, remember, #NeverMarkJackson.
