Another scam surfaces in Gujarat worth hundreds of crores. Amul Dairy is involved in major financial irregularities that points fingers at Managing Director K Ratnam who resigned under suspicious circumstances on 31st March abruptly. Now the details behind resignation emerge.
Kheda District Cooperatives attacked Ratnam for corruption and his resignation was sought in haste. Controversially Ratnam got Amul to buy 8700 metric tonnes cheese from a private Kerala company Milky Mix despite Amul plant’s own production capacity of 1200 metric tonnes.
Ratnam who’s appointment in 2014 as MD raised questions as he’s a home science graduate and not qualified for the post, had saw Rs 265 crores worth of cheese bought from Kerala company in 3 years. Ratnam stands accused of not only buying cheese but also passed on the formula that
Amul owned, to the private company. Usually procurement of cheese or any other products if required are to be done from cooperatives like Sabar or Banas dairies. But Ratnam broke the rules for private Kerala company without even tender at prices higher by Rs 40-50 per KG.
Similarly chocolate buying has come under scanner too. Amul has over 16 other cooperatives under its umbrella. Amul approved Rs 50 crore for a chocolate plant and the installation began in 2016 with cost overruns of Rs 185 crores so far without the approval of board of directors.
Sonin total Rs 800 crores worth of financial irregularities detected in Amul where its Managing Director was a political appointee. Now that the scam is unearthed blowing in the face of Govt, an inquiry is demanded and all those involved should be investigated.
Listing another new scam in Gujarat. This will be the scam thread, watch this thread now.
PM Modi's pet project Dholera SIR is again mired in a Rs 400 crore water pipeline scam by L&T. (Go check who owns L&T)
Dholera Special Investment Region's 20 sq KM area was contracted out
to L&T for infrastructural road building, sewerage and water pipeline laying. L&T used lower quality steel in this project skimming Rs 400 crores. Because of salty soil in Dholera land L&T was contracted to use epoxy coated pipes to avoid corrosion. Instead L&T used TMT CRS steel
Just within 3 months of winning tender, this scam is perpetrated. The steel used in the project is cheaper by Rs 10,000 per tonne in a project cost of total Rs 1734 crores. Three companies involved in this project are AECOM, L&T as well as Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
So all three are likely to be involved in this scam. Out of 5 companies that submitted tenders for the work, L&T won the tender being lowest bidder. AECOM is the company that was appointed to oversee the development at the cost of Rs 150 crores by Gujarat Govt.
AECOM was to oversee work in 152 sq KM area. Rs 100 crores have already been paid to AECOM for the work in just 20 sq KMs. AN IAS officer is allegedly involved in clearances at various stages.
